I had a discussion with my husband this morning on the
subject of standardized testing and the inequality that many students who are
academically or learning challenged is faced with. The U.S. News data show test-optional application
policies are on the rise as good news for parents and students who
are concerned with passing these tests in order to become accepted into the
college or university of their choice. Breathe!
There is an alternative! Over 800+
colleges and universities do not require standardized testing scores such as
the ACT or SAT for admitting a significant number of students into bachelor degree
programs. Matter of fact based on the
report by FairTest, the National
Center for Fair & Open Testing did a report entitled, “Test Scores
Do Not Equal Merit”, which has information on
test-score-optional admissions. If
you would like to breathe just a little bit easier concerning standardized
testing, check out their website for a listing of colleges and universities who
have “test flexible” or “test optional” admissions.
As an aspiring writer, wife and homeschooling mother of 9 kids, life is always in session with plenty of "live lessons" to glean from. So much of what I have learned came by way of "life application" and it wasn't always applied in the way it should or could have been; you know the saying, "you live and you learn". Hopefully, if you read long enough you may find some inspiration, encouragement and even empowerment to do the thing called "Life". Welcome to class "Life's In Session!"
